Site & fuel-source class
Enums for site_class (hydro, gas, wind, solar, behind-meter, orbital, submerged, nuclear SMR, geothermal, battery) and fuel-supply class (associated gas, stranded dry gas, hydro variants, renewables, etc.).
Site class — what kind of facility
The SiteClass enum on ComputeSlot is the physical taxonomy of compute-energy facilities. It drives what permits are required (checkPermitStack), what sensitivities apply (water draw, indigenous consultation), and what analogs are reasonable for underwriting.
| Class | Notes |
|---|---|
hydro_run_of_river | Run-of-river hydro. Minimal regulating storage; output follows river flow. Permit-light, water-rights-sensitive. |
hydro_reservoir | Reservoir hydro. Substantial regulating storage; dispatchable output. Indigenous consultation almost always required. El Chocón (Embalse Ramos Mexía, ~20 km³ storage on the Limay) fits here. |
gas_associated | Generation co-located with oil extraction, monetizing otherwise-flared associated gas. Pampa JV Phase 1 (Vaca Muerta oil-window, NGL-rich) fits here; Crusoe playbook. |
gas_stranded_dry | Dry-gas fields with no pipeline takeaway and no co-located oil production. |
gas_pipeline | Pipeline-supplied generation. Conventional. |
wind_onshore | Onshore wind. |
wind_offshore | Offshore wind. |
solar_pv | Solar photovoltaic. |
solar_csp | Concentrated solar with thermal storage. Water-draw heavy. |
curtailed_renewable_hybrid | Sites built specifically to absorb curtailment from existing renewables. |
behind_meter | Behind-the-meter colocation; no grid queue. |
orbital | Space-based compute (Starcloud / Lumen Orbit class). Exploratory. |
submerged | Subsea data center (Panthalassa-class). Exploratory. |
nuclear_smr | Small modular reactor. |
nuclear_lwr | Light-water reactor. |
geothermal | Geothermal. |
battery_only | Standalone battery (compute-arbitrage edge case). |
other | Unenumerated. |
Fuel class — what powers the facility
The FuelClass enum on FuelSource and FuelSupplyContract is finer-grained than SiteClass because a single site may have multiple supply contracts (e.g. a gas_associated site with three different well operators on independent contracts).
| Class | Carbon class | Notes |
|---|---|---|
associated_gas | fossil | Gas produced as a byproduct of oil extraction. |
stranded_dry_gas | fossil | Dry gas with no economic takeaway. |
pipeline_gas | fossil | Conventional pipeline gas. |
hydro_run_of_river | renewable | |
hydro_reservoir | renewable | |
hydro_pumped_storage | renewable | |
wind_onshore / wind_offshore | renewable | |
solar_pv / solar_csp | renewable | |
curtailed_renewable_hybrid | renewable | Hybrid sites absorbing curtailment. |
behind_meter | varies | Whatever the host facility burns. |
nuclear_smr / nuclear_lwr | low_carbon | |
geothermal | renewable | |
biomass | varies | |
battery_arbitrage | varies | Arbitrage between cheap/expensive grid hours. |
other | varies |
Carbon class
Tenants increasingly filter on carbon profile. The CarbonClass enum is used by DemandSpec.carbon_class to constrain slot matching:
fossil— gas/oil-derivedlow_carbon— nuclear, gas with sequestration, low-emissions-factor grid mixrenewable— hydro, wind, solar, geothermaladditional— projects that demonstrably add new generation (additionality criterion)removal— projects bundling power with verified carbon removal

Jurisdiction codes
Per-country regulatory body and tax-stability regime enums. ISO-2 country codes, ENRE/CAMMESA/FERC/CAISO/ERCOT/etc. for regulators, AR_RIGI/US_IRA/US_OZ/BR_REIDI/etc. for tax stability.
Register a stranded energy asset as a ComputeSlot
Step-by-step: secure land + fuel rights, register the slot, attach the Compute SPV LLC Position, advance through the LAND gate.
