Common issues

Side panel shows "No entity detected"

• Verify you're on a supported site (PitchBook company or investor profile page)
• Check that the content script is injected: open DevTools on the page → Console → look for DMTR-related messages
• The PitchBook DOM structure may have changed — check if h1 elements exist on the page

Side panel shows an error

• Verify the DMTR API is running at http://localhost:3100
• Test the API directly: curl http://localhost:3100/health
• Check the service worker console: chrome://extensions/ → DMTR extension → "Inspect views: service worker"

Extension icon doesn't appear

• Ensure the extension is loaded and enabled in chrome://extensions/
• Pin the extension from Chrome's extension menu (puzzle piece icon)

Entity not resolving

• The entity may not be in the seed data. The development seed includes ~20 companies.
• Check the API directly: curl -X POST http://localhost:3100/v1/intelligence/resolve -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"name": "Company Name"}'
• The fuzzy matching threshold is 0.75 — very different names won't match

After rebuilding, extension doesn't update

• Click the reload button on the extension card in chrome://extensions/
• Close and reopen the side panel
• If content scripts don't update, refresh the PitchBook page
