AlphaSense Integration
AlphaSense integration for document-level position context and mention monitoring.
Overview
The AlphaSense integration connects Dark Matter to AlphaSense for document-level position context and mention monitoring. Users can view Dark Matter position and participant data in the context of AlphaSense research documents. The integration supports document-level position context (linking documents to Dark Matter positions) and mention monitoring (tracking when positions or participants are mentioned in new documents). AlphaSense integration requires an AlphaSense subscription and DMTR API access.
Capabilities
Capabilities include document-level position context (associating AlphaSense documents with Dark Matter positions for research workflow), and mention monitoring (alerting when positions, participants, or companies are mentioned in new AlphaSense content). Use capabilities to enrich research workflows with Dark Matter registry and transferability data. Mention monitoring supports configurable alert rules and delivery channels.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites include an AlphaSense subscription with API access, DMTR API credentials with research platform scopes, and network connectivity. For mention monitoring, webhook or polling configuration is required. Verify AlphaSense API entitlements. Contact your AlphaSense and Dark Matter representatives for access. Sandbox environments are available for development.
Permissions and scopes
Permissions and scopes required include positions:read, registry:read, and research:enrich. Mention monitoring may require research:monitor scope. Use API keys for server-to-server or OAuth for user-delegated flows. Request scopes via the DMTR dashboard. Scope approval may take 1–2 business days.
Setup
Setup involves provisioning AlphaSense API credentials, configuring the DMTR integration in the dashboard, and mapping AlphaSense document and entity identifiers to Dark Matter. Configure mention monitoring rules if using that capability. Follow the setup wizard for step-by-step configuration. Test in sandbox before production. Setup typically takes 1–2 hours.
Supported workflows
Supported workflows include position lookup from AlphaSense document context, mention monitoring for positions and participants, and bulk association of documents with positions. Workflows integrate with the DMTR extension for interactive use and with the API for batch operations. Unsupported workflows include real-time document indexing; use scheduled sync instead.
Data model mapping
Data model mapping defines how AlphaSense documents and entities map to Dark Matter Position and Participant objects. AlphaSense document IDs and entity mentions map to Dark Matter position and participant identifiers. Handle disambiguation when multiple entities match. Refer to the mapping reference for field-level details. Document-position associations may require manual or ML-based linking.
Security
Security requirements include storing credentials in a secrets manager, using TLS for all API calls, and restricting credential access. Do not log or expose AlphaSense document content in client-side code. Comply with AlphaSense data use terms and Dark Matter security policies. Rotate credentials according to the secrets rotation schedule. Mention monitoring data may contain sensitive information; apply access controls.
Limitations
Limitations include AlphaSense API rate limits, document indexing latency, and unsupported AlphaSense products. The integration does not support real-time document streaming. Mention monitoring has configurable delay. Some entity resolution may require manual review. Contact support for workarounds or feature requests.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting steps include verifying credentials and scopes, checking AlphaSense API status, and reviewing DMTR API logs. Common issues: entity resolution failures, mention monitoring delivery delays, and document association errors. Use the Dark Matter support portal for escalation. Include request IDs and timestamps in support tickets.

Reference documentation includes the AlphaSense API documentation, DMTR API reference, and the integration mapping specification. Links are available in the integrations dashboard. Keep documentation updated as APIs evolve.
