Addepar Integration

Addepar portfolio management system integration for Dark Matter.

Overview

The Addepar integration will connect Dark Matter to Addepar for portfolio reporting sync and position reconciliation. This document describes the planned integration specification. Addepar is a leading portfolio management and reporting platform for wealth managers and institutional investors. The integration will enable bidirectional sync of positions and support data mapping between Addepar and Dark Matter schemas. Capabilities and implementation details are subject to change as the specification is finalized.

Portfolio reporting sync

Portfolio reporting sync (planned) will support sync of positions from Addepar to Dark Matter and from Dark Matter to Addepar for reconciliation and reporting. Sync patterns may include batch (scheduled) and event-driven (webhook) modes. The specification will define sync frequency, conflict resolution, and data freshness requirements. Addepar portfolio and holding data will map to Dark Matter Position objects with appropriate transformations.

Data mapping

Data mapping (planned) will define how Addepar entities (holdings, accounts, securities) map to Dark Matter Position and Participant objects. Addepar uses a hierarchical account and holding model; mapping will handle aggregation levels and identifier resolution. Field-level mapping will be documented in the specification. Custom mappings may be supported for organization-specific configurations.

Configuration

Configuration (planned) will include Addepar API credentials, sync direction and frequency, entity mapping rules, and optional filters (e.g., by account, asset class). Configuration will be managed via the DMTR dashboard or API. Sandbox configuration will support testing without production data. Configuration validation will ensure required fields and mappings are complete before sync activation.

Limitations

Limitations will be documented at release. Anticipated limitations include Addepar API rate limits, supported asset classes (Addepar covers a broad range; Dark Matter may support a subset initially), and sync latency. Product-specific restrictions from Addepar may apply. The specification may be updated as limitations are clarified during development.
